CALL TO ORDER, DETERMINATION OF A QUORUM, AND CHAIR’S REPORT – Adrienne Simonds, Chair
Chair Simonds called the meeting to order at 1:07 p.m. She reported that Senate leadership has received concerns from senators regarding the potential merger of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and New Jersey Medical School. She thanked RBHS Chancellor Brian Strom for his transparency and collaboration throughout the Senate process. An Envisioning the Future of Academic Medicine website has been launched, with a link to questions from the University Senate about the proposed merger. Many senators are also serving on the committees formed to respond to the Senate’s questions. Chair Simonds expressed gratitude to all senators and the Senate office, and asked senators to express gratitude to someone they know in the spirit of Thanksgiving. She also asked senators to consider donating to food pantries across Rutgers and the surrounding communities.

- Agenda: The meeting agenda was approved, with one change. Senator Markert requested that the Proposed Response to Administration Response on S-2113: PTL Pay and Recognition be considered an information-only report.
- Minutes: The minutes of the Oct. 21, 2022 Senate meeting were approved as distributed by the Executive Secretary.

President Holloway then answered questions on the following topics:

The ad hoc committee was charged as follows: Examine the effectiveness of the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and its impact on Rutgers University’s graduate programs. Investigate other peer aspirants.
Senator Kustka and former senator Ashley Bernstein presented this report and resolutions to the Senate. A motion to amend the resolutions was lost. A motion to call the previous question carried. The unamended resolutions were adopted.

Senator Markert presented this proposed response. After discussion and by unanimous consent, the proposed response was submitted to the Senate for a vote instead of being considered as an information-only item. The proposed response was adopted.
