Report on S-2010-1: Evaluation of the RCM Implementation at Rutgers

The BFC was charged as follows:
Evaluate the implementation of the RCM budget model at Rutgers University. Specify recommendations where improvements should be considered.

CALL TO ORDER, DETERMINATION OF A QUORUM, AND CHAIR’S REPORT – Adrienne Simonds, Chair
Chair Simonds called the meeting to order at 1:12 p.m. She welcomed senators back for the spring semester. She announced elections will be held at the February Senate meeting for the vacant position on the Executive Committee for a Student Senator from New Brunswick. Nominations can be sent to the Executive Secretary. She reminded senators that nominations will soon be requested for Senate leadership elections in April.

- Agenda: The meeting agenda was approved.
- Minutes: The minutes of the Dec. 9, 2022 Senate meeting were approved as distributed by the Executive Secretary.

President Holloway provided the Administrative Report consisting of the following topics:
- Student awards
- Sandra Richtermeyer named Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost at Rutgers University-Camden
- University’s commitment to academic freedom and freedom of speech
President Holloway then answered questions on the following topics:
- Potential repercussions for violations of the tobacco-free policy
- Expressions of gratitude for his collegiality engaging with the Senate
- Funding for the University Libraries
- Academic freedom for students
- Update on the Climate Action Plan
- Concerns about the proposed merger of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and New Jersey Medical School
- Concerns about resources for University Hospital
