MINUTES
September 15, 2025

A special meeting of the University Senate Executive Committee was held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. remotely via Zoom.

Call to Order – Lucille Foster, Senate Chair

Chair Foster called the September 12, 225 Senate Executive Committee meeting to order at 9:04 a.m.

Discussion regarding Camden Campus Course Registration Concerns

Guests from Rutgers University-Camden campus were invited to discuss concerns regarding enrollment of approximately 170 students between August 26-28, who were not identified as admit coming. Of the 170+ students, 134 were identified as new students with 36 being identified as international and/or transfer students.  Items discussed in meeting are as follows:  

• With an 18% increase of enrollment substantiated by non-existent students, many sections were closed to current students during the add/drop period  

• This practice was not only disruptive to the advising process but created additional work for the faculty based on the increased numbers to redesign their curricular activities 

• Possible FERPA violation 

• Term bills were issued to non-existent students  

• Faculty contacted two students from their faculty roster who were completely unaware they were enrolled in a class and were concerned about identity theft. These students had no intentions of coming to Rutgers University-Camden 

• When faculty submitted inquiries to administration regarding their increased class rosters, they were given numerous, differing, and inconsistent responses which never addressed the specific concern of who these students were  

• Potential damage to Rutgers University-Camden admissions and enrollment practices if this were to be leaked to the media 

The EC motioned to send a formal letter to the administration asking for details on the situation.
