2024-25 Actions of the Rutgers University Senate

February 2025
At its regular meeting on February 21, 2025, the University Senate voted to elect five Federal Grant Funding Freeze representatives. The five candidates elected were:
- Paul Boxer
- Perry Dane
- Adam Kustka
- Tuğrul Özel
- David Salas-de la Cruz
The University Senate also adopted the following recommendations:
- S-2301-1: Science Communication Efforts at Rutgers University
- S-2325: Explore the Current Virtual Senate Meeting Format and Develop Best Practices and Meeting Format Recommendations
January 2025
At a special meeting on January 31, 2025, the University Senate adopted to following resolution:
Resolution on the Federal Grant Funding Chaos and University Response
At its regular meeting on January 24, 2025, the University Senate adopted the following recommendations:
- S-2335: University Senate’s Communication with Constituents Through Social Media
- Senate Bylaws, Article III: Executive Committee
December 2024
At its regular meeting on December 13, 2024, the University Senate adopted the following resolutions and recommendations:
- S-2402: Institutional Neutrality
- S-2116-2: SIRS
- S-2204-2: Impact of CourseAtlas
- Senate Bylaws, Article II: Officers
- Resolution Condemning Administrative Response to the Rutgers University Student Assembly (RUSA) Meeting on December 5, 2024
November 2024
At its regular meeting on November 15, 2024, the University Senate voted to choose two potential candidates for a Senate representative to the Presidential Search Committee. Of those two, the Presidential Search Committee will select the final Senate representative. The two candidates selected were:
- Lucille Foster, Newark Staff
- Heather Pierce, Lecturer-New Brunswick, Faculty
The University Senate also adopted the first article of Senate Bylaws:

At its regular meeting on September 20, 2024, the University Senate adopted the following resolutions:
- Resolution for Rutgers Senate Inclusion in Rutgers President Search
- Resolution in Support of Letter Requesting Asynchronous Instruction on Election Day
- Resolution on Caste-Based Discrimination at Rutgers
July 2024
On behalf of the University Senate, the Senate Executive Committee adopted the following resolution:
